Tom Cruise meets the Budgies and Wildflowers at the Sanctuary

Tom Cruise our resident movie star Cockatiel got to meet two new fans today. Ziggy and Sky, two adorable budgerigars that came into the Sanctuary recently when their owner could no longer look after them. They made themselves at home next to Tom and became quite star struck with him. Tom enjoyed all the attention from his admirers and danced about his cage with all the swagger of an A list move star. Budgies are small gregarious Australian parakeets and usually have green feathers with a yellow head in the wild. They are popular pets and have been bred in a variety of colours. Ziggy has the typical plumage of his wild counterparts and Sky is the most magnificent blue.

Our wild flower meadows are in full bloom and we thought we’d share this beautiful selection gathered earlier today from around the Animal Sanctuary gardens and fields. It’s a real joy to see all the insects, bees, lady birds, dragon flies and wild rabbits busy in the summer sun. We are happy to report the two buzzards we first spotted last year are still around and look to be doing well.
