This good looking tabby cat was found wandering in a garden, not your usual stray cat, who are usually thin and scraggy, but still very hungry and obviously lost.  A kind lady took the trouble to have the cat checked for a microchip ( not found ) and then brought the cat in to us.   This fine tabby is settling in well and has a lovely nature, friendly and affectionate.  If you recognise the cat please get in touch with us.
It’s hard to know why a cat would go missing, perhaps scared by a dog and chased away or picked up and taken or following someone friendly to their home. Â More often, in our experience, the cat has been abandoned when someone has moved away. Â There is an effort to find a new home but when that fails the owners just leave the cat thinking that someone else will come to the rescue. Â Sometimes they do, we’re also hearing about a cat with kittens who has been dumped and gone feral so that is what happens also.
If you find a stray cat please offer food, Â unless you live in an area where there is plenty of natural food (like a farmyard or near woodland or rough land) the cat will starve to death if you don’t. Â A dish of biscuitswill be better than nothing and costs little. Â Usually cats can find water from strays or puddle or early morning dew. Â Put a dish out though if you’re not sure.
If you can get a photo of any stray cat please send to us, we’ll put it online. Â It helps anyone looking for their cat to find out what’s happened. Â If you’ve lost a cat please send us details, we keep a register and put on the lost pets section of the website. Â It’s worth checking with the local Council Department of Cleansing who have the gruesome task of picking up road casualties. Â They should check for chips and note a description – its sad but at least you’d know.
