The teachers and students from Dronfield Junior School popped out to see us recently and brought some much need supplies for the animals. They have been raising funds and supporting the animal sanctuary for quite some time. On behalf of all the animals, we’d like to say a big thank you. Special thanks to Lorna […]
A hedgehog came to us recently with one of the worst infestations of ticks and fleas we have ever seen. As always, we recommend using gloves when handling any hedgehog to prevent contact with ticks. Thank goodness he was found, so special thanks for the gentleman who made the trip to drop him off at […]
We’ve had an influx of baby hedgehogs (hoglets) at the animal sanctuary over the last few weeks. Lots of young ones are being found out during daylight hours. Most of them are hungry and vulnerable, so it’s important they get the help they need as soon as possible. It could be due to the milder […]
We had a wonderful time down at Tabby Teas in Sheffield today. Thanks to Charlotte and Co for showing us round and introducing us to all the cats they have adopted and care for. It was lovely to see them all getting on so well together. The crew are actively helping local animal sanctuaries with […]
We’ve had another busy week with pregnant cats, kittens, ducks, rabbits and lots of wildlife rescues. Enjoy the pictures from around the animal sanctuary. Our group of seven mandarin ducks are settling down and becoming a little tamer. Kittens are growing up fast in Kitty City. We have some lovely little rascals available for adoption […]
Thanks to one of our readers, Lisa, for sending us one of her favourite poems for our weekly Sunday feature. This stirring poem by Robert Browning was written while he was at sea, sailing from London to Trieste. The work itself describes an imaginary historical incident when communication between towns was reliant on a horse […]
Four beautiful indian runner ducks (we’ve called them Elsa, Anna, Jemima and Errol) arrived at the Sanctuary this week. They settled straight in to Sanctuary Life and made themselves at home. It was a surprise to see two lovely eggs in the morning – thanks ladies. Indian runners are prolific egg layers and lay quite […]
We had a giant blue cat arrive at the Sanctuary this week. He’s a lovely chap and we think he might have a bit of Norwegian Forest cat in him due to his long legs and hint of feather. He’s settled down really well and made himself at home in Kitty City. We’ve called him […]
No cup is ever too small for an impromptu bath. This duckling decided he wasn’t too big for this dish and jumped straight in during cleaning time. We are happy to report he is doing well and expected to make a full recovery.
You know the old saying, well this week we proved it is true. Polly is enjoying some lovely fresh new pasture and made a bee line for the muck heap. This picture has been approved by Polly and she would like to say thanks to everyone who helped organise it. You are amazing! If you […]
