Cat left to die of starvation

Sox has now made a good recovery and has been re-homed with lovely people – thank you.  From the look of misery and bewilderment on this poor cat’s face you can tell she’s suffered an ordeal.   Sox is still frightened and disorientated after being locked up in a flat when her owners moved away.  With no one to feed her she was left to starve.   Sox is in a bad way with multiple health problems, she’s also very thin and flea ridden.   When she was found she was brought in to ua.   Her rescuer is a very kind and caring cat-lover who was especially concerned for her well-being.

Sox is a lovely friendly cat but there is so much wrong at present that it looks as though she will have a long road back to recovery.  Fleas and worms have been dealt with.  Her coat is a mass of knots with allergic dermatitis covering most of her skin.   She has lovely markings with neat little socks – hence her name – but instead of being white, they are a dirty brown.   Either she’s been living in filthy conditions or she’s been too unwell to clean herself.

We want to see a smile on her face but at the present time she is nervy and wondering what is going to happen next.   Fussing and comforting her and letting her settle down and relax is one of the first steps.   A holistic approach to health is the one we adopt.   Organic food is helpful when a cat is as debilitated and neglected as this one is.  She has problems with her mammary glands, perhaps she’s recently had kittens, which would also account for her anxiety if they’ve been taken away from her too soon.

Although she has had flea treatment and has stopped scratching, her skin is still sore and tender   We’re giving her lots of oily fish to help her recover.   Sox has other health problems and lesions on her head.   She is only a young cat though and hopefully that will be in her favour and help her to recover.   A lot depends on her emotional state and how quickly she can relax and respond to knowing she’s safe at last.
