A happy ending for our favourite friend - fritz made himself at home with his new people right away
Just to let you know that Fritz has settled in extreemly well. He was no trouble in the car going home- was quite happy taking in the scenery, and once home seemed to take it all in his stride after the initial investigations in the garden etc. Bless him, he has such a wonderful temperament and whoever had him previously had obviously trained him well and I feel, must have given him lots of love as he is SO well behaved, its incredible.
I would like to say a BIG thank you to you all at St. Bernards for looking after him so well and for the wonderful work you do. I hope I have a win on the lottery so that I can make a donation to your sanctuary.
He has made no attempt to get on the sofa or chair, but likes to lay at your feet andalso loves his new bed - he has a siesta every afternoon !! He doesn't beg when we are eating, (or glare at you and make you feel quilty foreating)but really enjoys having a smallportion of left overs. He hasn't made a murmerduring the night (or left any 'surprises')and gives you a lovely fuss in the morning when you go downstairs. In fact he hasn't cried or whinged at all.
He is so gentle and very well socialised, we have been out in the car the last two days to visit a couple of friends and they were amazed how good he is and took a real shine to him. WhenI put his lead on to take him for a walk on tuesday evening, I put the lead on the floor whilst Iwent to get my keys and when I turned around he was standing behind me with the lead in his mouth and his tail wagging like crazy - so now when I put the lead on he likesto take it from me and carry it in his mouth to the door. Bless his little heart, I couldn't have wished for a better pal.
He also has a very ticklish and sensitiveneck !!!
When he has a madfive minutes with his new toys, he is so funny. He won't bring them to you though - you have to chase him for them - not daft eh? Why should he do all the work hahaha.
I took him to the vet this morning for a health check andeverything was fine, they advised tostart him from scratch with vaccinations,so he had the first one today but as he seems to have a sensitive neck he did flinch bless him, but he didn't growl or snap. I'm not looking forward to his next one in two weeks as I can't bear the thought that it hurts him, but these things have to be donefor hishealth and wellbeing - I'm not sure wether to wait to get him chipped or let them do it as they normally do with the second injection - I just don't want to cause him any discomfort. For my peace of mind I would prefer he was chipped -butI guess that is easy to say whenit isn't being done to you ?!?!?!?!
I would like to say a BIG thank you to you all at St. Bernards for looking after him so well and for the wonderful work you do. I hope I have a win on the lottery so that I can make a donation to your sanctuary.
So from Fritz, and us, thank you very much and we hope that all the other orphans find wonderful homes.
Thank you so much Karen for giving Fritz such a lovely home.
Whirlin' Merlin

What a difference a month makes! When dog lover Mary came to see a still rather thin looking Merlin, she took to him straight away. The adoration was mutual and off Merlin went to be transformed into the fit and healthy Mr.Happiness we see here. Thanks so much for giving this little super hero a new home and a new life.
