Monday morning thank you’s

dogs - cristo 12Thank you for all the good things brought in recently, we are very greatful for them and they are much appreciated.  We have no funding other than donations and it’s always difficult to carry on.  Vet fees at this time of year are especially high, so many cats to be spayed and kittens to be vaccinated.  We also have all the golden oldies who are permanent residents here to care for and as pets get older they need more looking after and their vet fees increase – our heating bills are always massive even in summer.  We need heated pads for much of the wildlife when they first arrive too.

The heated boxes are still on our ‘wish list’ and would make all the difference to the survival of hedgehogs and baby birds also.  They provide the perfect all round warm environment for very vulnerable animals.  They are expensive though.

We’ve had some lovely items brought in – a Singer sewing machine, vintage and in good condition, a beautiful blue old fashioned eiderdown, china, books, bric-a brac, clothes – thank you for your donations and for taking the trouble to bring them to us.  We’re building up to another Yard Sale but have to wait till we get over this particularly busy time first.

If you’re having a clear out please bring your unwanted clothes, shoes, handbags also blankets, towels, any sort of fabric and bedding.  Books are good – we put them on our shelves in Reception so if you’re looking for some good holiday reading please come and browse.

We can’t carry on with our campaigns and rescues without your help – we can’t save the animals and care for them and pay the vet.  Our overheads are very high, we need enough staff (7days a week) to look after everyone.

Many, many thanks for the dog and cat food – it is literally a life saver and such a feeling of relief when we find it in Reception – all these hungry mouths to feed!

If you can join us and become a Pet Samaritans member please get in touch – email your name and address – it’s £15 per year which gives you Newsletters, a keyring, pet postcards and this issues freebies are Lucky Cat stickers.  Help and advice of course.  If it’s a cheque please make payable to Pet Samaritans or paypal or donate on the website.  Many thanks to everyone who already helps us.

Happy endings are what keep us going!   The picture above is of Cristo when he first came in – he looks a lot different now.
