Animal Welfare
The Pet Samaritans are dedicated to preventing animal cruelty and suffering. Through our animal campaigns, we aim to make sure the Animal Welfare act is complied with. British MP Richard Martin in 1822 pushed a bill through Parliament offering protection from cruelty to cattle, horses and sheep earning himself the nickname Humanity Dick. The five freedoms of animal welfare are freedom from thrist, hunger and malnutrition, freedom from discomfort, freedom from pain, injury and disease, freedom to express normal behaviour and freedom from fear and distress. We campaign for animal welfare throughtout the UK and Europe. This website aims to provide advice and tips for the proper care of animals and pets to owners and the general public at large.
Dog Adoptions
One of the main resources of the sanctuary is devoted to abandoned dogs. We take in all the strays and dumped dogs as part of our derbyshire dog adoption service. Every week we receive upto 20 dogs for adoption and desperately need to find them suitable homes. Please visit our pet and dog adoption pages for more information about how you can get involved with the Pet Samaritans and rehome a dog.
Lost Pets
With our close ties with local authorities, dog wardens and the police, our lost pets service provides a valuable resource to recover your pet. Place your advert for your lost pet on the Pet Samaritans website and reach thousands of people who might just have information that can help recover your pet.
