We all want a happy ending........
And that's what we've had over the past few weeks - thank you to all the lovely people who've adopted one of our dogs. Cassie went off to her lovely new home with a tail wagging and a big smile on her face - thanks folks. Millie has gone to new people and she is already a member of the family. Sadly there are always many more dogs to take the place of those who pack their bags and leave us.
DIXON

Dixon - the dashing Jack Russell
He's brown and white and full of life and fun - this small, smoothcoated Jack Russell came in as a stray and was never claimed. Dixon is about a year old and loves humans, he wants to be with you and go a walk and play - he'll fetch balls and sticks forever. Dixon is a faithfull little chap who was quite traumatized at first by being a 'stray'.
Dixon has made lots of friends here and and is always ready to meet new people. This grand little chap deserves the very best of homes. Dixon is about a year old, he's clean, well behaved and very affectionate. If you'd like to come and meet him please get in touch. email or phone 01246 456177. Between 11.0 am and 3.0pm are the best times for us.

GOALIE

GOALIE - THE PATTERDALE ON THE TRANSFER LIST
This lovely little terrier was tied to a goal post and left behind - after several hours and no one coming back to get her, a member of the public realised that she'd been abandoned and she was brought in to us. Goalie is a great little girl, fussy, clean, good natured. She's about 3 years old, curly coated and a firm favourite here already. Goalie loves to go out for walks but is just as happy to sit by the fireside, she likes to be fussed and would appreciate a loving home, especially if footie was on the t.v. or she could get a bit of practice in now and again. Which team does she support? It has to be Chesterfield don't you think.

Would you like to come and take Goalie out for a walk? Please get in touch, email or ring 01246 456177

JASPER

Jasper - the handsome staffi
Chunky and super stylish, Jasper is one smart staffi - and doesn't he know it! What a poseur, just waiting to be admired, this handsome chap is neat and clean, affectionate and well behaved. Someone must be missing him, you don't get a great dog like this and give up on him, surely. His colour is a fab deep gold, his bib and collar are white and he has tiny white socks to match. Jasper is a youngster, probably about 1 to 2 years old. He has been no trouble at all with us, he is friendly and good natured.

Could you give this personality plus doggy pal a new home? If you are a staffi lover please come along and meet him. Tel: 01246 456177 or email.

DELLA
Della - the delightful Doberman x
Still a big baby and sure to grow some more, Della is a youngster with a great future. With all her life before, she is certain to develop into a dog to be proud of - with the right home, food and training of course. And that's what she needs right now, someone to take her on, love her and give her the stability she needs. Loving, fussy, playful, hungry - Della is one of our favourites and for a youngster she is very well behaved. She hasn't put a paw wrong since she's been with us.
Della is around spaniel height now and will probably finish up the same size as a labrador - just right for long walks. When she first comes out, Della is very pleased to see you and a bit excitable but she soon settles down and understands 'sit' and 'stay' so she's had some training already. If you'd like to come and meet her please get in touch - tel: 01246 456177 or email.

CONRAN

Conran - the chunky staffi
You've seen Jasper, now meet Conran. They could almost be brothers - I wonder if they are. Sadly we rarely get to know anything about the strays that come to us. But Conran is a handsome and cheerful chap - don't these staffis have super faces and expressions - aren't they just the most huggable of all dogs. And Conran is no exception, he has a loving, personality plus nature with us and is easy to look after, loves his walks, he's clean and happy to stay in if that's what you want. His legs are a bit short - but don't hold that against him! Size isn't everything!

Conran is light tan in colour with just a bit of white on his chest. He's about 1 to 2 years old and is a lovely character with us. If you'd like to come along and meet him and take him for a walk please give us a ring - Tel: 01246 456177 or email.

MARLEY

Marley - the magnificent greyhound
And yes, he is as tall as he looks in the photo. Marley is a big lad, tall, lanky and very elegant and aristocratic in appearance. He's one of the finest dogs ever, he seems to float over the ground with a long stride, his head held high and a serious expression on his intelligent gazehound face. What is he thinking? How did I ever end up as a stray, I shouldn't wonder. His nature is most loving, he's well behaved and - he needs a couple of warm coats - we never seem to have enough and the ones we have are very tatty. If you can't take him home with you, would you like to sponsor him? That would certainly help. Marley loves to go a walk and, like most greyhounds, is well behaved on the lead. Greyhounds (whippets too) are amongst the easiest dogs to look after - we call them 'duvet' dogs because they like to curl up in a quilt and while they like to go out for a walk and a run, they'll be just as happy staying in by the radiator, especially if it's cold outside.
I wanted to get a close up of Marley's face because he has the most stunningly beautiful eyes - they are a deep amber colour and are very striking. His coat isn't quite jet black, it's more smokey grey and he has one or two small scars and is a little on the thin side (although we're fattening him up). How old is he? In his prime, about 18months to 2 years.
Please give us a ring if you'd like to come and meet Marley, he's sure to give you a very friendly welcome. Tel: 01246 456177 or email.

KELSEY

Kelsey - a lovely Lab x
Shiny black, with a snazzy white bib, Kelsey is one very smart young lady. Is there a smattering of collie and/or pointer in there somewhere? Probably so - her expression is pure pointer - soft, soppy and very affectionate. Kelsey is a very soft natured, girlie dog and very likeable - it's impossible not to be won over by her faithful, forgiving and affectionate nature. She's only quite young and needs to fill out more, her physique is a bit immature as yet, but with good food, gentle exercise to start with and lots of t.l.c. she will be a super companion and friend for life.

You can see what a baby she is in this pic - and how thin she is. That will soon alter as this young lady has a good appetite and will benefit from good food with vitamins and minerals- what she wants most though is a new home and one to one t.l.c.
Can you give Kelsey a fresh start in life? If so, please get in touch and come and meet her - email or phone 01246 456177

GENIE
Genie - the 'just magic' Border Collie
Alert and inquisitive and certainly very beautiful, this young lady is just about as perfect as you can get. She is young, well behaved, very affectionate, intelligent ....... we could go on and on. Black and white with the most intense rich amber eyes, Genie is very striking, especially so as her coat is nicely shaggy and lifts in the wind in a most attractive way. So far, she hasn't put a paw wrong, we all love her to bits and we intend to find her a super home. Although Genie is easygoing and laid back, most border collie's do like a lot of exercise, so we're looking for someone with plenty of time and who likes to go out walking.

Genie is very huggable, her slightly fluffy coat is just the right length for some therapeutic (for us) stroking. She's between 1 and 2, so fully adult. Why hasn't she been claimed? Impossible to know. Would you like to come and meet her and take her for a walk? Please give us a ring - 01246 456177 or email. We're open between 10 and 4.0 every day - best times for us are between 11 and 3 though. So much to do, so little time.

KIRBY

Kirby - the round and curvy Staffi
We were just about certain that Kirby would be claimed. A lovely 'golden oldie' dog who has obviously been well cared for throughout her life. She was found in a very upmarket Derbyshire area, not the sort of place where dogs are dumped. She's been her quite a while now and still has a puzzled 'what am I doing here, where are my people?' expression on her face. Does anyone recognise her or know who owns her? Please get in touch with us urgently if so. Kirby is a lovely old girl, well behaved and sedate. She needs a cosy armchair, a fireside and a home to call her own. Kirby is fit and active and has lots more happy years ahead of her. Can you offer her a retirement home? Come along and say hello and we'll see what she thinks of you. Tel: 01246 456177 or please email.

FLORENCE
Florence - the Russelldoodle
Well maybe that is a bit of poetic licence! But there could be a smattering of French Poodle, and the markings and shape are pure Jack Russell so who knows. Whatever her ancestry, Florence is one of the prettiest dogs around. So cute, dainty and just look at all those curls. Well behaved, easy going, very polite and friendly, Florence is a sweetie. How old is she? Young middle aged, nicely grown up but plenty of life ahead of her.

Florence will need regular grooming although she's told me she prefers the casual look. Me too. But a comb through, an occasional trim, a shampoo and set from time to time are all on the cards. We have a grooming salon at the kennels so that's no problem. Florence came in as a stray and has been as good as gold all the while she's been here. She deserves a super home and will give you lots of love and companionship in return. Please get in touch if you'd like to say hello. email or phone: 01246 456177

BRIDGET

Bridget - the chocolate Labrador
Comfy, soft and round as a cushion, Bridget is a chunky lady who could do with losing a bit of weight. We're building up her exercise and she's getting fit again - look at that tongue lolling out after a brisk walk up the fields! We were sure that Bridget would be claimed, a lovely, obviously pedigree lab with a good friendly nature and well behaved. But she hasn't been claimed so now we're looking for a new home for her. Bridget is an easy going soul, who has settle down really well here. She loves food, what lab doesn't, but a light diet is going to be the answer to get that spare tyre slimmed down. Is there someone out there looking for this lovely lady? But if so, why hasn't she been reported as missing? All the lost dog reports are checked. It's certainly a puzzle. She's been here a while now and the only way forward is to find her a new home. Can you help? She'll be a rewarding and faithful companion - and get you fit too. email or phone please: 01246 456177
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
CHERIE

Cherie - the Shar Pei
Well, we don't get many of these dogs in the sanctuary! Shar Pei's are unusual and expensive to buy and this one looks like a pure bred and high borne young lady. Light tan in colour and lots of wrinkles - she is certainly unusual in appearance. Cherie is not very old - about 10 months and has a lovely nature, she is very affectionate, well behaved and knows she is an aristocrat.
These dogs always look to me as though they should be a lot bigger, it's their chunky build I guess. But actually the Shar Pei's are quite small - Cherie is not much bigger than a terrier. She's square and neat and although sedate has lots of character. Shar Pei's aren't for everyone, but if you want a dog that's different, then little Cherie will fit the bill. Please come and meet her, email or phone: 01246 456177

TOKSVIG

Toksvig - the sandy coloured Lab x Shepherd
We see so many dogs that are too thin and have a poor muscle tone and not enough 'bone' - and Toksvig is just such a dog. She's only young so with lots of good food she'll soon put weight on and build herself up. We'll have to put some info in the advice column on how to feed a youngster - they do not lots of the right sort of food - we have to wonder if yong dogs are being fed adult convenience food and that's why they're looking so skinny and poorly developed. Adult dogs do well on a maintenance diet but growing guys and gals need lots of protein for growth and maintenance.
Toksvig will be very handsome when she's grown up a bit and filled out. She's very nice looking already with a lovely face and expression. Very anxious to please, she already sits and stays so further training will be a doddle. Tokki will need gentle exercise until she's put weight on and muscled up. She's going to be a really faithful and good obedient dog. Can you give her a fresh start? Please come and meet her and say hello - email or call us : 01246 456177

DOLLY

Dolly - sweet and dainty
This tiny lady dog is a real miniature - a cross between .....? We don't know except that she is so cute and lovable. Dolly came in as a stray and hasn't been claimed. She is a smokey grey/brindle colour with a bit of white on her chest and big soulful eyes. A real charmer and doesn't she know it! Dolly is a friendly and very affectionate little poppet, fully grown although not very old. She's well behaved and a real little lady, no trouble at all.
Isn't she cute? Being so small means that she is easier to care for than her bigger pals - she'll eat less for one thing. Small dogs do need careful consideration given to their diet. We prefer to give them meat that is fit for human consumption - most dog foods contain 'animal derivatives' - yuk! What a lovely companion our little Dolly will make for some lucky person. If she is the one for you, please give us a ring 01246 456177 or email and come along and meet her.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
BOYSIE

Boysie - the Bear Sized Shepherd Dog
Yes, he's a big lad although most of the size is pure kiddology - it's his thick shaggy bear-like coat! Boysie is a great character, very good natured and well behaved. He'd benefit from a bit more exercise though, gentle at first and then build him up. He's certainly a magnificent specimen and isn't it lucky that he's so friendly - no one would argue with this chap for very long.

Boysie is a beautiful rich colour but that thick coat will need regular grooming. Shepherd dogs are notoriously picky about food but this lad is eating everything we put in front of him. If you'd like to come and see him please get in touch with us - email or phone: 01246 456177

FERDINAND THE GREAT

Ferdi - the dashing Daschund
Well, almost. We're not convinced that they are pure bred but these two little chaps are the nearest thing to Daschund's that we've seen in a long time. By the way, Fritz is the look alike - must be brothers - but he hasn't come out of his shell as yet and didn't want to have his photo taken. Ferdi is the more extrovert of the two, but as these little chaps have recently endured a dreadful ordeal we can make all sorts of allowances for them. Fritz and Ferdi were seen at night tied up to a fence by a man on his way home. Curiosity made him go back next morning to see if they were alright. They weren't - they were still tied up. A cold night too. But they're alright now and gradually recovering. It would be nice to re-home them together.
Both are black and tan and sausage shaped (sorry guys!) - they're possibly around one or two years old - Fritz is a bit chunkier than his brother - both are very small. Are these two little pals the ones for you? Please come and see them for yourself. email or phone: 01246 456177
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Dogs brought in recently include:

A tall, beige coloured greyhound with a wall eye. This is a very distinctive chap with a lovely nature. Is he your dog? Does anyone know him. He's come in as a stray. Please get in touch with us if you know anything about him. 01246 456177
Jack Russells - several
Bullseye - black and white staffi - chunky and choc full of personality
Bilko - another staffi - pure white
Shelley - a brindle and white staffi
Fritz - black and tan and very small - tied up overnight to a fence

I have been looking on your website and I am enquiring if you still have Genie or Florence up for adoption. I look forward to your reply at your earliest convenience.
Many thanks.
